Your content stays on your device
PagePause requires no account. Local playback, transcript editing, and system offline speech recognition run on your device. Media, subtitles, playback history, and preferences are stored locally and are not automatically uploaded to the developer. The app has no advertising tracking or user-behavior analytics.
Network playback connects to media servers you specify. Sharing sends content to a recipient you choose.
01 Operator & scope
pagepause (Chinese name: 慢页播放器; “the app”) is provided by 关文飞 (Guan Wenfei). Its application identifier is dev.pagepause.player. This policy covers the HarmonyOS app's media playback, library management, network media access, and system offline speech recognition and subtitles.
The app is a media playback and management tool; it does not supply a film or television catalog. Only access, process, and share media you are authorized to use. Media servers, sharing destinations, and system services have their own data practices.

02 Local media & storage
Local playback takes place on your device and does not itself require sending media to servers operated by us. The app accesses files or folders you choose and authorize through the system picker, or copies you import into the app.
- Library: file references, names, media information, favorites, playlists, and playback history.
- Preferences: playback position, theme, gestures, and other playback settings.
- Created files: transcripts, subtitles, task progress, screenshots, and caches. Audio segments extracted during recognition are used for processing on the device.
- Fonts: a copy of an imported font is stored in app storage for subtitle rendering.
This information is primarily stored on your device. System backups, synchronization, and exported copies are governed by your system settings and chosen storage services.
03 Network media connections
When you open an HTTP/HTTPS link or configure an SMB, FTP, or WebDAV service, the app connects to the server you specify to request directories or media. Requests may include the account information, authentication, custom headers, and resource paths needed for that connection.
The server and network provider can receive the connecting IP address, request time, and necessary request information. Their retention practices depend on the service. Saved passwords use system secure storage; plain-text passwords and complete authentication headers are not stored in the library or diagnostic logs.
FTP does not provide TLS transport protection. Connection security depends on the protocol and server configuration.
04 Offline subtitles
When you start recognition, the app extracts media audio locally and uses HarmonyOS Core Speech Kit to create a Mandarin Chinese transcript offline. Recognition runs on your device without using the microphone.
Audio is segmented at speech pauses, with silence skipped by default. Transcripts, subtitles, timestamps, and task progress are saved locally. You can follow progress on the home screen and edit or export subtitles from the transcript page.
Network media is read from the server you specify and then recognized on your device. System sharing or dragging passes the selected text, timestamps, and relevant media title to the receiving app you choose.
05 Permissions & data overview
The app uses system capabilities for the functions you choose. Declining an optional permission affects the related function; other functions that do not depend on it remain available.
| Use | Data or capability | Purpose & location |
|---|
| Import & playback | Selected files, directories, references, and media information | Play and manage authorized media on your device. |
| Network playback | Connection information, authentication, headers, and resource paths | Request media from a server you specify. |
| Save & export | Chosen destinations and document/download-directory access | Save screenshots, subtitles, audio, or imports, subject to system authorization. |
| Background & feedback | Background-running and vibration capabilities | Support playback, initiated subtitle tasks, and interaction feedback as permitted by the system. |
| Offline subtitles | Selected audio segments, recognized text, timestamps, and task progress | Process locally with Core Speech Kit and store transcripts and progress on the device. |
| Diagnostics & support | Necessary runtime states, timings, error types, and feedback you send | Local troubleshooting, or delivery to a recipient when you export or send feedback. |
File, document/download-directory, and persistent access are controlled by the operating system. You can manage available system permissions or unlink a folder in the app.
06 Third parties & sharing
The app uses open-source components including mpv, FFmpeg, libass, FreeType, HarfBuzz, FriBidi, libplacebo, libsmb2, and libcurl for media, subtitles, fonts, and network processing. See the app's open-source notices and the corresponding release materials for full license information.
These components process media on your device. Network components connect to the media server you request; offline speech recognition processes audio locally.
- Media servers you choose: receive browsing, playback, or download requests and necessary authentication.
- Sharing destinations you choose: receive the subtitles, transcripts, screenshots, audio, or logs you export or share.
- Support email: receives your email address, message, and attachments when you send us feedback.
Review files before sharing them. Remove passwords, private server addresses, and unnecessary personal information. App stores, operating systems, and hosting or backup services may separately process information needed for their own services under their own privacy notices.
Choosing a server or service outside your country may result in processing by an overseas recipient. Whether a cross-border transfer occurs depends on the service and processing location you actually use.
07 Retention, deletion & your rights
Library information, history, preferences, and transcripts remain locally until you delete or clear them using the corresponding controls, or uninstall the app. Backups, exported files, and third-party records may have different retention scopes.
- Removing an entry is not the same as deleting a file. Removing an external media entry generally retains its source file. Read the confirmation before deleting an app-managed copy.
- Manage credentials. Delete network accounts and their credentials. Information held in backups, other devices, or a provider's systems must be managed separately.
- Withdraw authorization. Stop tasks, remove connections, or change available system permissions. This does not invalidate processing already completed.
- Manage remote records. Contact the media server or sharing recipient to request access, correction, or deletion of records it holds. Local deletion cannot replace that step.
- Contact us about your rights. You may request access, correction, deletion, withdrawal of consent, or an explanation of processing using the email below. We will verify identity only as necessary and handle requests under applicable law.
The app has no proprietary user-registration account. Local files and settings can be managed on your device. Third-party account closure and deletion requests must be handled with that provider.
Sensitive credentials use system secure storage, and diagnostic export hides sensitive fields. Protect your device, network credentials, and exported files.
08 Children
Minors should use the app with guidance from a parent or guardian. Where personal information of children under 14 is involved, a guardian should review this policy and provide consent required by applicable law. Use and share media only where you are authorized to do so.
If a guardian believes a child's information has been processed without required consent, contact us to explain the situation and request appropriate action.
09 Policy updates & this webpage
We will update this policy and its revision date when features or data practices change. Changes requiring renewed consent should be explained and the required consent obtained before the relevant processing begins.
